Asian Tour announces full 2013 schedule

     

    The Asian Tour has released its full 2013 Schedule which includes 16 more tournaments for a season’s tally of 27 events offering in excess of US$40 million in total prize fund.

     

    Two new tournaments – the Volvik Skylake Vietnam Masters and Resorts World Manila Masters – will make their debuts during a frenetic period from September till January, 2014. The details for the final Asian Tour event, which is scheduled to take place in 2014 will be announced soon.

     

    After the traditional summer break, the region’s premier Tour, which is celebrating its 10th season following its launch as a players’ organisation in 2004, will resume with the €2.2 million (approximately US$2.8 million) Omega European Masters in Switzerland, jointly sanctioned with the European Tour, in September followed by the US$500,000 Yeangder Tournament Players Championship in Taipei, US$500,000 Volvik Skylake Vietnam Masters and the US$1.5 million Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open in Japan, which is co-sanctioned with the Japan Golf Tour.

     

    October will also see a full month of tournaments being showcased with the US$600,000 Mercuries Taiwan Masters, US$750,000 CJ Invitational Hosted by K.J. Choi in Korea, US$750,000 Venetian Macau Open and CIMB Classic in Malaysia, a lucrative US$7 million tournament sanctioned with the PGA Tour.

     

    The US$8.5 million HSBC Champions, the only World Golf Championships held in Asia, will be played in November and this will be followed by the US$1.25 million Hero Indian Open, US$750,000 Resorts World Manila Masters and the 2013 World Cup of Golf in Australia.

     

    The Indonesian Open makes a return onto the Asian Tour Schedule in late November after a lapse of several years, followed by the Thailand Golf Championship and King’s Cup in Thailand.

     

    The Asian Tour is currently enjoying a short break following the conclusion of nine tournaments and resumes with the US$300,000 Queen’s Cup in Samui, Thailand and RM1.2 million (approximately US$400,000) Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters in Malaysia in June.

     

    Asian Tour 2013 Schedule (September-January, 2014)

     

    Sept 5-8: Omega European Masters, Crans Sur Sierre GC, Crans, Switzerland, €2.2 million (approximately US$2.8 million).

     

    Sept 12-15: Yeangder Tournament Players Championship, Linkou International GCC, Taipei, US$500,000.

     

    Sept 19-22: Volvik Skylake Vietnam Masters, Skylake GC, Hanoi, US$500,000.

     

    Sept 26-29: Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open, Ibaraki CC, Osaka, Y150 million (Approximately US$1.48 million).

     

    Oct 3-6: Mercuries Taiwan Masters, Taiwan GCC, US$600,000.

     

    Oct 10-13: CJ Invitational Hosted by K.J. Choi, Haesley Nine Bridges GC, Seoul, US$750,000.

     

    Oct 17-20: Venetian Macau Open, Macau GCC, Macau, US$750,000.

     

    Oct 24-27: CIMB Classic, Venue TBA, Kuala Lumpur, US$7 million.

     

    Oct 31-Nov 3: WGC-HSBC Champions, Sheshan International GC, Shanghai, US$8.5 million.

     

    Nov 7-10: Hero Indian Open, Venue TBA, US$1.25 million.

     

    Nov 14-17: Resorts World Manila Masters, Manila Southwoods GCC, US$750,000.

     

    Nov 21-24: 2013 World Cup of Golf, The Royal Melbourne Golf Club, US$8 million

     

    Nov 28-Dec 1: Indonesian Open, Venue TBA.

     

    Dec 5-8: Event TBA.

     

    Dec 12-15: Thailand Golf Championship, Amata Spring CC, US$1 million.
